Tagging Instructions - Children's Sale

The Clothesline now requires consignors to use the computerized tagging system (no more handwritten tags).  It is easier for you and for us!

Benefits to consignors include:
* faster tagging
* consignors are paid VERY quickly (usually the day after the sale ends)
* ability to check on what you have sold during the sale week
* a record for your taxes of the unsold items you donate
(we are unable to provide tax receipts)
* an itemized online inventory is available after the sale (less paper ... a greener system!)
* you keep the same consignor number for all future sales so you don't have to re-tag items
* lots of other features that make consigning easier, faster, and more fun!

If you want to consign, but do not want to use the system, we have an option for you!
You may send us your tagging information and we will print your tags for you and mail them to you.  The fee for this service is $10, plus .25 per page of tags
(8 tags fit on a page), plus postage (or you may pick them up prior to the sale).  There are limited slots for this service, so let us know immediately to reserve your space.

Shoppers are looking for the very best bargains!  We encourage you to price your items to sell!  You will sell more and have fewer items to pick-up after the sale!

To begin tagging, click here.  Then Login and look for the Enter Items tab.  It's fast and easy!

Thank you for the items you donate!  Items marked "Donate" are given to local charities who benefit from your generosity.

Any item marked "Donate" will be discounted during our discount sales.

Again this fall, we will hold a Volunteer Appreciation Sale for volunteers only.  Volunteers will be able to purchase items marked "Donate: Yes" for 75% off.
(Items marked "No" for donation, will not be sold for 75% off, but will be available for sale during the Volunteer Appreciation Sale).

Important Tagging Information ...... Please read carefully!
You will need:
*  Cardstock paper (white)
*  Cable ties, string, or ribbon
*  Safety pins (NO stick pins)
*  Ziploc bags
*  Clear packing tape
*  Masking tape or painter's tape
*  Hangers (these will not be returned to you)
*  Pen
We suggest you read through the instructions before gathering your supplies as you may not need everything listed.  For example if all of your items are on hangers, you won't need ziploc bags.  Cable ties can be found in the electrical section of Walmart, Home Depot, or Lowes and sometimes at the Dollar Store.

You decide what to price your items.  Please price items in increments of $0.50 (for example, $3.00 or $3.50, not $3.10 or $3.25).  You will sell more items if you price to sell!  Please double check all tags for accuracy.  We will not be responsible for mistagged or mispriced tags, incomplete tags, or items without tags.  Please fill the tags out neatly and completely.

Please print on white cardstock (if you already have another color, you may use that before you purchase white).  You can purchase full reams of paper at office supply stores, or buy it by the sheet at FedEx Kinkos.  The tags will print 8 to a page.

When printing your tags using the computerized tagging system, print using "Normal" or "Draft" quality.  (Avoid "best" quality because the barcode tends to bleed).

Punch a hole in the upper left corner of the tag and use a cable tie, string, or ribbon to attach it through the garment's sewn-in label and through the hanger.  Or you may use a safety pin to attach the tag to the right side of the item (as it faces you on the hanger).

Bring your clothing on plastic or wire hangers.  Clothes should be hung with the hanger hook facing the left as you look at it (like a question mark).  Attach two-piece outfits together with safety pins (NO straight pins please) or pin the second item to the hanger.  This reduces the risk of losing an item.  Please use pant hangers or attach pants using safety pins.  Do not fold the pants over the hanger; this takes too much room, they fall off, and most shoppers will not take the time to look at them.

All children's clothing (including juniors) should have a number size on the tag (ex: 6, 14, etc..) NOT small, medium, large.  If the garment does not specify, make your best guess.   Clothing is hung by a number size, so please tag it that way.

Maternity wear may be tagged extra small, small, medium, large, and extra large.

For items that will have a price tag attached with tape (such as the items below), please use masking or painter's tape.  Packing tape can damage items.  Attach the tag by taping across the top blank part of the tag.  The tags will be removed at check-out.

Furniture and equipment sells best when it is assembled.  Please bring any tools required if you would like to assemble your item.  If not, tape a baggie containing any hardware or pieces and the instructions to the item.

Puzzles, games, or boxed toys must be taped shut with masking or painter's tape so that pieces are not lost during the sale.  Please be sure to count all pieces and make sure all essential parts are there.  Do not bring items that do not have all pieces.  Batteries must be working in all toys requiring them.

Videos, DVDS, CDs, tapes, computer software, electronic games, etc. should be in their original cases if possible.  No home-made recordings please.

Group small items together in a ziploc bag and seal it with clear packing tape. For example, fill a bag with same-sized socks or with hair bows.

Shoes may be attached to one another with string, ribbon, cable ties, or large safety pins.  You may also put them in a large ziploc bag or keep them in their shoebox.

Please prepare all of your tags according to these instructions.  This makes it easy for shoppers and easy for us to ensure you get credit for all of your sales!  If you have any questions please e-mail us (info@TheClothesline.biz), use the "Contact Us" link, or call Lisa at (804) 291-1451.
