Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of consigning for your Children's Sales?
There are many benefits to being a consignor with The Clothesline!
1) You get to set your own price and you earn 70% of the sales price (60% for women's sales).  It feels great to clear out your unneeded items, know that someone else will get to use them, and you make more money than you would selling them in a yard sale or a secondhand store.
2) All you have to do is prepare and tag your items and drop them off before the sale.  We take care of the advertising, the facility, and the sale itself.
3) You get to shop early!  Consignors shop before the public sale begins!

Is there a limit to how many items I may consign?
For our Children's Sales, you may consign up to 250 items.  You may consign up to 100 items for our Women's Sales.

What is the benefit to the computerized tagging system?
1) Your tagging will go much faster!
2) Our shoppers will enjoy a faster check-out!
3  Your payment for your sales will be ready sooner!
4) You can check and see what has sold each day during the sale!
5)  Your consignor number remains the same for all of our future sales and you may leave unsold items tagged for the next time!

Do I need to stay with my items during the sale?
No.  We take care of the sale for you!  You drop-off your items and we do the rest!  If you want to be a volunteer, we welcome your help!  Sign up for a shift ... or two!

What is the $10 fee for?
The $10 fee helps to offset some of the facility and advertising costs.  This fee is paid at the time of registration and is non-refundable.

What items may I consign?
For our children's sales, you may consign anything related to children that is in very gently used condition.  Clothing (newborn through teens), furniture, equipment, and maternity items are accepted.  For our women's sales, you may consign clothing, accessories, shoes, and handbags.
We want shoppers to know they will have quality merchandise to choose from during our sale.  Please do not be offended if we do not accept something due to stains or wear.  Refer to our Accepted Items link for ideas on what to consign.
Each sale has specific acceptable items.

How should I price my items?

We recommend pricing your items at about 1/4 to 1/3 of the retail price, taking into consideration the brand name and appearance.  Ask yourself, what would I pay for this?  Price to sell!  Please price in increments of 50 cents.  Designate whether you want your item reduced at our discount sales.  See the Tagging link for specific instructions.

What happens to my unsold items?
When you tag your items, you will designate whether you want to pick-up or donate your unsold merchandise.  If you choose to donate your items will be given to a local charity.
If you want to pick-up your unsold items you must come during the scheduled pick-up time to retrieve them.  Anything left after that time will become the property of The Clothesline and most items will be donated to charity.  We cannot make exceptions to this schedule because we have to vacate the sale site promptly.

When do I get my check?
Your check should be available within two weeks of the end of the sale.
With the computerized system, they should be ready in just a few days following the sale.  We often are able to hand you your check when you pick up your unsold items!  Immediate gratification!

 How can I shop early?
Consignors all receive two preview sale passes.  If you would like to shop even earlier, work for at least three hours.  Volunteers will be allowed to shop before consignors and before the public sale.  Volunteers who complete two 3-hour shifts will shop earlier and those who volunteer for three or more shifts shop the earliest!

May I bring my children to the sale?
All children are permitted while you shop, however they must remain with you at all times.  We love children, but recommend coming without your children if possible!  Umbrella strollers only please due to space.
Children are NOT permitted during your volunteer shift unless they are newborns or over 14-years old.
